Numbers..... Numbers...... Numbers......

This is a mail I wrote on the KVMAA forum on 5th April......... enjoy........ Given my penchant for numbers, I have always been interested in watching what the numbers say. Even though not a fan of numerology as such esp for prediction of future etc, I have been stuck over last few years by personality traits and behavioural patterns of people and could see a broad correlation. Of course, I am yet to test the robustness of the model but this is derived from several personal experiences with people. So here goes a few tips..... Methodology: I base my analyses on 2 parameters - the birth date per se which is say DD. So if u are born on 2nd, u are a 2. If u r born on 13th, ur a 4 (1+3), if it is 25th then u are a 7 (2+5). The second parameter is what is called the Fadic or "life-path" number derived from the full date of birth : DD-MM-YYYY. This case, the Fadic number is the sum of all digits, i.e., D+D+M+M+Y+Y+Y+Y. So if u are 02-10-1869 then you are 0+2+1+0+1+8+6+9 = 27 => 2+7= 9. In this case this person is a 2 and a 9 (day of birth and Fadic). We could draw broadly from above 2 numbers, personality traits and behavioural patterns, broadly. I don't necessarily believe in future prediction as I feel we gotta live with some suspense and also that we could change our "fate" by prayers and putting things in a wider perspective. If u ask which of the numbers are important, it is difficult. Both the birth date and Fadic number have an influence on the traits but one is more dominant than the other for different people. Now for some interesting analysis based on numbers: 1 - clear leaders or take the lead. People will also cede them this space. Will shine in any field they get into. Also like to set the agenda for everyone around them so that they can be in control. Injury prone!! 2 - highly emotional!! Can channelise all this emotional energy into creative and other pursuits to be successful. I am sure these guys cry in "senti" movies. they possess great sensitivity and tend to be quite diplomatic and thus can become "career diplomats" if they put their minds into it...... 3 - take charge type guys even when people don't cede the leadership position to them. Hate to be reviewed or questioned as they are their own bosses..... So if u hv a sub who is 3, he is ur de facto boss not the other way...... These are also expansionists.... Constantly trying to widen their spheres of influence..... And if ur wife is a 3..... Hmm.... Get urself some DVDs and start watching movies when u get home 'cos you are not gonna set any agendas buddy.... ;-) If ur hubby's a 3..... Oh! What a pity..... 4 - generally unlucky in all their pursuits. Lemme say they ar enot unlucky per se but they vacillate or waffle so much that they end up losing great opportunities that come their way and hence tend to be seen as unlucky. They hv to struggle for everything in life. Nothing comes easy for these people. These people are very careful about their money. And they are not givers not known for their largesse..... If u can get my drift ;-) one more li'l thing..... they are great teases and flatter to deceive...... 5 - charmers. Have a lot of oomph! People will long to hear a good word from their mouths....... But they seldom give out praise and rather are nitpicky being perfectionists. They will notice all the un-dotted i's and uncrossed t's and will tell you abt it. So these 5s can be a pain..... but if they control that instinct, they can become great motivators too.... 6 - hmmm..... Mein kya boloon..... The red sea really parts for these guys (n gals). If they start to build an airplane, somebody would run around and build a runway even without they asking for it. Everything falls in place somehow for these people almost like clockwork. U wl never see these struggle for anything. They only have to wish it...... 7 - murphy's law was definitely invented for these guys (and gals)..... maan!!! If something can go awry even in the remotest possible way, it will for a 7. Hwvr, these people are very insightful and very perceptive (perspicacious is the word really). If they warn of u of something, u better listen and follow. Their hunch is probably completely right and u will regret later not following their advice. 8 - they also have a bit of charm (of course not as much as a 5) but tend to go thro' a lot of mood swings and are always worrying about something..... If nothing then about what to worry about next :-) if u see someone looking forlorn and sporting a grave expression, chances are he/she is a 8. 9 - aah!!! Wd love to hv been a 9!! Full of mystique and aura about them. They are cynosures of all eyes. If a 9 shakes your hand, somehow you will never forget this person ever. Even though everything comes to them after a struggle, they achieve a lot due to their charisma factor. One trait 9s hv is they are great collectors - trinkets, artefacts, other pieces of art and craft, and whatever..... Their showcases wd always be full and they will tell u great stories about each of their collections. U can never write enough about these 9s ;-) Also noticed that a Fadic 9 (means full date of birth) is more powerful than just a birth date of 9. Check ur numbers and tell me if it fits u. Else tell me so that I may update my knowledge bank. Some interesting people and their numbers 1 - Ajit wadekar, Aishwarya Rai (and a fadic 5!), Carl Lemis, Princess Diana, Elizabeth Hurley, Bill Clinton, Leo Tolstoy, Lata Mangeshkar, Shivaji Ganeshan (actor), Sushmita Sen, Woody Allen 2 - Mahatma Gandhi (was also a 9 on Fadic), Satyajit Ray, Brain Lara, David Beckham, jimmy Connors, Asha Parekh, virender sehwag 3 - abraham Lincoln, Michael Schumacher, Golda Meir, M. Karunanidhi, actors Eddie Murphy, Tom Cruise, Marlon Brando, charles bronson, Gordon Moore of Moore's law, Athelete Katarina Witt (E German), Kareena Kapoor, Rajnikanth (actor) 4 - barack Obama, akhshaye Khanna, Stevie Wonder, Arthur Conan Doyle, Naomi Campbell, Trisha (actress), Sridevi (actress) Shane Warne, Mahima Choudhury 5 - Pt. Nehru, Madhubala, Aamir Khan, Bipasha Basu, Abhishek Bachchan, Katrina Kaif, akshay Kumar, Albert Einstein, Waheeda Rehman, Joan Collins, Che Guevara, Steffi Graf, Monica Lewinsky (Ahem!!), steve Martin, Zinedine Zidane 6 - APJ Abdul Kalam, leonardo da Vinci, Madhuri Dixit, Priscilla Presley, Queen Victoria, jennifer Lopez, Mallika Sherawat, Jayalalitha (ex CM of TN) 7 - P Chidambaram, Ramalinga Raju, Michael Douglas, Catherine Zeta-Jones, Nelson Mandela, Oscar Wilde, Genelia D'souza, karishma kapoor, Aftab Shivdasani, Adnan Khashoggi (global arms dealer!), James Cameron (director of Terminator 1 and 2), Manisha Koirala, Vijaykant (actor/politician), Sean Connery 8 - Debra Winger, Cheeyan Vikram, Amrita Rao, Pearl S Buck, Angela Merkel, Camilla Parker-Bowles, Sandra Bullock, Mick Jaeger, Manmohan Singh, Rita Hayworth (hmm...... Oh! Baby....), Asin (actress), Raveena Tandon 9 - Henry Kissinger, Kunal Kapoor, Jyothika Sadhana Surya (actress), Bruce Lee, Stephen Spielberg, Gillian Armstrong (X files fame), Louis Pasteur, Salman Khan, PT Usha, Priyanka Chopra, Jonty Rhodes, Preeti Jhangiani, Barbara Bach (James Bond fame), Neha Dhupia, Om Puri

Inner Engineering Retreat at the Isha Yoga Centre

Inner engineering - had heard so much about this program that I finally succumbed to my curiosity. Am also in a transition phase in my career and thought I had done so much of outer Engineering - Education, Networking, continuous learning of techniques and tools so felt it is time for some Inner Engineering. A three and a half day investment seemed quite appropriate as well at the Isha Centre in a scenic setting near Coimbatore. Here are some key learnings and insights for the ones interested….. First, it is a completely new journey into a realm that is beyond our normal logical, questioning mind. It calls for a leap of faith into a new dimension not easily explained by the axioms we are so familiar with in day to day life. However, it is done in a very "secular", non denominational, non-religious manner without pushing you too much. So well packaged and marketed in my view!! Second, it is an intense program both mentally and physically. You are in the program 24 hrs

The Grams’ Laws of execution (Strong Adult content Beware!!!)

Execution for us in India is always a challenge. We come up with the best of plans and designs and conjure up awesome things but fall woefully short, mostly in time to delivery or quality of the work. Oftentimes it is not necessarily for want of resources but of the deep execution DNA - the rigor, the micro detailing and passion for the "checklist" and structured reviews.... Here are a few laws I came up with some years back to illustrate to my colleagues the importance of getting it done and may be nudge them towards better execution. The name Grams' Laws was coined out of gratitude and in dedication to my ex-colleague, Grams. He is a brilliant IT engineer and a great visionary when it came to dreaming up a scheme for a software program/module. He would tirelessly present the minutest of details of how this piece of code would work and what it would do and how it would be the mother of all programs that would solve not only our but even some of world's pr

R.E.S.P.E.C.T...

The title of this post may trigger thoughts of Aretha Franklin's classic number that arguably became the theme song of the American Feminist movement in the 60s. But we aren't far away from what I have in mind. But this is more about what happens to people in organisations. Read on.... Many of us, even though we refuse to accept, depend on our colleagues and subordinates to become successful. This is even more true when we come into a new organisation and are struggling to establish ourselves in the first few weeks. We will need specific help from our compatriots to get us started on the job or to show us the way in those incipient days. Many would expect our bosses to help but this seldom happens. So we are left to fend for ourselves and quickly find allies. This is where a vast majority of us fail to make it and feel frustrated in the first few weeks. We feel we have no authority or have not been empowered enough to do the job. What we fail to realise is that we have to b
